DANGER! Actors, do not fall for Tampa acting audition and talent casting jobs advertised in the newspaper! They are actually selling overpriced studio headshots and photography sessions. Only obtain headshot photography and actor headshots from a professional headshot photography company which does not bait actors in with promises of obtaining them work; make sure that they are honest with you about the services that they are really selling, and about what they are in business to do! If responding to any advertisement for auditions, castings, or talent jobs, make sure that they are a licensed modeling and talent agency so that you can make sure that that can get paid for referring you to the job, and if they are a modeling and talent agency, keep in mind that it is against the law, and a conflict of interest, for them to make any money offering headshot photography sessions and talent photography services! Can you trust anyone who has to trick you into contacting them so they can convince you to buy overpriced photography services from them? The few legitimate jobs that they advertise can be found and tired out for on your own! If they cannot legally make money by referring actors to the auditions and castings that they advertise, how do they make their money? They have to be a licensed modeling and talent agency in order to make money referring actors to the auditions that they advertise, and if they cannot do that, how do they make their money? Are they going to continue working for free after they sell you services, and find more auditions for you? What incentive do they have to find you acting jobs if they cannot make money doing it? If they ARE a licensed modeling and talent agency (and our research tells us that none of the companies advertising acting auditions and talent jobs are NOT talent agencies), it is against the law for them to make any money selling any photography services or referring actors to headshot photography services. Even if it were not against the law, it would be unethical and a conflict of interest! A modeling and talent agency is only allowed to make money by referring models, actors, and talent to jobs. Also, keep in mind the job market in this economy. There are never enough real jobs to make advertising them cost-effective, especially since legitimate agencies have lots of professional actors and talent contacting them for representation already. If the talent agencies, who CAN legally make money referring talent to jobs, don't advertise those jobs in the paper, what is the real deal about the people who do? How do they make their money? Don't get ripped off by anyone who baits you with a job offer and then sells you a service! It is bait and switch, it is is a deceptive trade practice, and it my be fraud, which is a crime! If you see anyone doing this, contact the federal trade commission and the local authorities!

A professional actor has limits, does not compromise their integrity to be cast in a role, and carefully considers who they work with, what they do, and the professional associations that they maintain. Professional actors are able to be cast in legitimate roles in reputable auditions both with and without the use of talent agencies.
